I. Chaos Covered the Deep, But God Was There
- “Tohu vavohu” (formless and void) = disorder, emptiness, chaos.
- Darkness = more than absence of light; it's confusion, fear, distance from God.
- Genesis 1:2 — “The Spirit of God was hovering…” God is present in the chaos.
- Isaiah 45:7 — God forms light and creates darkness; He governs both.
II. God Speaks And Light Happens
- Genesis 1:3 — “Let there be light…” No battle, just speech.
- Light = the first created thing because all else depends on it.
- Light reveals beauty, brings life, provides direction.
- John 1:4–5 — Jesus as the Light that shines in darkness.
- Darkness cannot overcome the Word of God.
III. God Divides the Light from the Darkness
- Genesis 1:4–5 — God separates light from darkness; creates rhythm and order.
- Light and darkness don’t mix — clarity over confusion.
- God separates lies from truth, shame from grace, confusion from calling.
- 2 Corinthians 4:6 — God shines in our hearts to reveal His glory.
IV. Light as Revelation, Order, and Salvation
- Light = a major biblical symbol of God’s presence and salvation.
- Psalm 27:1 — “The Lord is my light and salvation…”
- Psalm 119:105 — God’s Word lights our path.
- Isaiah 9:2 — A great light shines on those in darkness.
- John 8:12 — Jesus is the Light of the World.
- Walking in the light = walking in truth, renewed identity, and reflection of God’s glory.
